Hospital bag checklist for mom

Hospital bag checklist for mom!

The big day is quickly approaching and you're left with the question... what do I bring in my hospital bag??

Don't worry, mama. We've got you covered!

Here is a list of everything you'll need to bring in your hospital bag for the birth of your precious baby.

For you:

  1. Comfortable clothes: Loose, breathable PJs or a nightgown, plus an outfit for going home (something cozy, stretchy and breastfeeding-friendly).
  2. Nursing bras and pads: If you're planning to breastfeed, these will be lifesavers.
  3. Non-slip socks or slippers: Hospitals can be chilly, and you'll want something comfy for walking around.
  4. Toiletries: Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, deodorant, lip balm (hospital air is dry), shampoo, and conditioner (mini sizes are great!).
  5. Hair ties or headband: To keep your hair out of your face during labor.
  6. Phone charger: Extra long cord if you have one!
  7. Snacks and drinks: Some hospitals provide snacks, but pack your faves for after delivery.
  8. Light robe or cardigan: Perfect for layering if you get cold.

For Baby:

  1. Onesies or sleepers: Bring a couple in newborn and 0-3 month sizes (you never know how big baby will be!).
  2. Baby blanket: For the ride home or cuddling with baby.
  3. Going-home outfit: Something soft and cute for those first pics! If you haven't found out gender, bring along a few different options :)
  4. Hat and mittens: Newborns lose heat easily, so it's important to keep them warm. Plus, mittens prevent them from scratching that sweet newborn face of theirs!
  5. Car seat: Make sure it’s installed in your car ahead of time (hospitals require it for baby to go home). If you aren't sure how to install it, local police stations will give you tutorials (or you can look online).

For Partner/Support Person:

*A quick side note here... you shouldn't have to pack their stuff for them! This is a list that you can take a screenshot of and send to them. You don't need more on your plate!

  1. Comfortable clothes: They’ll want to be comfy too!
  2. Pillow and blanket: Hospital chairs can be a bit hard for resting.
  3. Snacks and water: It could be a long day, so pack fuel for them too.
  4. Entertainment: A book, tablet, or something to pass the time during labor.

Optional Extras:

  1. Birth plan: If you have one, bring a copy for your care team.
  2. Massage oils, tennis ball, or heat pack: For labor pain relief.
  3. A music speaker: Soothing or uplifting music can help during labor.
  4. Camera or phone for photos: If you want to capture those special moments. If you have a midwife, they might be taking pictures, so make sure you ask!

That’s it! You’re all set! 🎒 Pack your bag a few weeks before your due date, just in case baby decides to make an early appearance. Wishing you all the best with your little one! 💕

Sincerely,
